The 35 year old sister referred to as being "normal" is anything but, she has high functioning Asberger's Syndrome fully diagnosed by one of the world's leading experts who also diagnosed the child Southall said wasn't autistic.
Child C, whom Southall was so interested in because of the hyperventilation has now been diagnosed with a cardiac problem, which at the time had been misdiagnosed as epilepsy, the anti convulsants were making him ill. (a common problem) he has also been diagnosed with CP and his autism is so bad now he has to live in a residential care home.
Lowry only referred child C to Southall after a Pethidine overdose prior to an operation on C's leg led to a complaint from the family against him. Southall becomes involved and virtually salivates over child C, he isn't interested in child protection, he wanted him and he got him. Added to this was the fact that grandmother had lost three children way back - all of whom died in a hospital with Grandmother not being present. Two death certificates when finally obtained, showed that they had died of suspected cystic fibrosis, the third was ascertained. Southall would have gone into a frenzy, all these factors were exactly what he needed for his research.
The rest speaks for itself, during the attempts to research on child C at UHNS grandmother complains about C's treatment, like attempting to occlude whilst administering a noxious substance (CO2? Chloral Hydrate, take your pick!) and starts asking what's going on, she also highlights in a letter to the trust that "babies were being taken off the ward at night when the parent/carer had left" and asks what was going on.
At that point the family were well and truly got.
I cannot comment on aspects of Lowry's letter, it's despicable and shows Southall and Lowry to be devious and untruthful.
Finally UHNS Confirmed that there were no such "specially trained nurses" in MSbP!!
